Anniversary Announcments

Charles and Naomi Mades celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, April 18, 1999, with a family dinner at Red Horse Steak House in Frederick, Md. The event was hosted by their son and daughter and their spouses, Charlie and Barbara Mades of Hagerstown and Jose and Nancy Gracia of Bel Air, Md.

Mr. and Mrs. Mades eloped to Warrenton, Va., where they were married April 3, 1939.

Mrs. Mades is the daughter of the late Charles and Marguerite Quigg of Washington, D.C.

Mr. Mades is the son of the late Charles and Sarah Mades, also of Washington, D.C. He retired in 1971 after 30 years with Maryland State Police. He then served as secretary of Hagerstown Elks Lodge 378 for 18 years.

They have four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Green of Boonsboro celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, W.Va.


The celebration was hosted by the couple's daughter, Luana Goodwin of Media, Pa., who reviewed their lives as friends added their recollections.

Carolyn Eden of Mahomet, Ill., a niece, presented several musical numbers in honor of the couple. Family and friends joined in the celebration.

They have one granddaughter.

The Greens were married Feb. 24, 1939, by the Rev. F.L. Stine at the home of the former Margaret Thomas.

Mrs. Green is the daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Thomas. She is retired from Washington County school system, where she taught at Mount Carmel, Boonsboro and Hagerstown.

Mr. Green is the son of the late Charles and Anna Green. He was associated with Thomas & Sons and formerly with Pangborn Corp.
