The Great Boonsboro Carnival begins May 28

The smell of potatoes frying in peanut oil and hamburgers on the grill will glide through the air on the heels of live tunes at Shafer Park during The Great Boonsboro Carnival, Friday, May 28, through Saturday, June 5.

Boonsboro Volunteer Ambulance & Rescue Service will serve all sorts of eats, including french fries, country ham, beef barbecue, hot dogs, coleslaw, pizza and ice cream. The newest feature will be buffalo burgers, which are low in calories, fat and cholesterol.

Reithoffer Shows will supply the rides for the midway and Zambelli Internationale will bring along the explosive colors for the fireworks show Friday, June 4.

Here is the schedule of events:

Friday, May 28: Park opens at 5 p.m. Country/variety music by Borderline at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 29: Park opens at 5 p.m. Country music by Keith Harling at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Sunday, May 30: Memorial Day parade starts at 2 p.m. on Main Street, Boonsboro. Park opens after parade. Bluegrass music by Linda Lou & the Lucky 4 at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Monday, May 31: Park opens at 5 p.m. Rock 'n' roll oldies, country and Top 40 music by Rick K. & the Allnighters at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Tuesday, June 1: Park opens at 5 p.m. Country music by Vernon Taylor & White Lightning at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Wednesday, June 2: Park opens at 5 p.m. Sons of the American Legion Night. Musical comedy by Sh-Boom at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Thursday, June 3: Park opens at 5 p.m. 5th Annual Thompson's Gas & Electric Night. Country music by Kevin Sharp at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Friday, June 4: Park opens at 5 p.m. Oldies music by Kathy Martin & the Hot Rods at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Fireworks start at about 11:30 p.m. Rain date is Saturday, June 5.

Saturday, June 5: Park opens at 5 p.m. Reithoffer's Merchants Appreciation Day. Country music by Rhett Akins at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.
