HANCOCK, Md. - A 28-year-old Morgantown, W.Va., woman was seriously injured Tuesday night when her car ran off the right side of Interstate 68 east off Rice Road at 8:35 p.m. and crashed into a guardrail.

Barbara S. McClead, of 206 Ann Marie Drive, was not wearing a seat belt in her 1991 Buick Park Avenue, according to Maryland State Police.

Trooper First Class M.W. Jones said in his report he believes her injuries would have been minor if she hadn't been ejected through the front passenger window of her car upon impact.

McClead was flown by MSP medevac helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was in serious condition this evening.


Someone stole a box springs, mattress and a night table from a vehicle parked at Prime Outlets Tuesday morning at 8:40 a.m.

The loss was estimated at $800, according to Washington County Sheriff's deputies.

Also stolen Tuesday was a yellow Yamaha YZ motorcycle from 21625 Black Road. The loss was $600, deputies said.

Overnight, someone broke out the windshield and driver's side window of a 1997 Dodge Avenger parked at 9355 Childacrest Drive, according to Washington County Sheriff's deputies.

Nothing was taken.

Also Wednesday, the owner of a car parked at 20463 A Beaver Creek Road reported damage to a car window and a T-top, deputies said.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Tools, fishing and lawn care equipment worth $2,367 were reported stolen recently from a home at 185 Siloan Road in Guilford Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The report said a shed door was pried open to steal the equipment.
