Council to hold budget hearing

SMITHSBURG - The Smithsburg Town Council will hold a public hearing for input about their upcoming budget. It will be on May 25 at 7 p.m. in the town hall second floor meeting room.

Council will vote on the budget during a special meeting to be held in June.

Mayor to address town June 2

SMITHSBURG - Smithsburg Mayor Tommy Bowers announced during Tuesday's council meeting he will be presenting his State of the Town address on June 2 at 7 p.m. in the second floor meeting room of the town hall.

Hydrants to be flushed in June

SMITHSBURG - Hydrants in Smithsburg will be flushed during the first week in June, according to public works director William A. Loughridge.


He said the work will start at 9:30 p.m. and residents water should be settled by the following morning.

Bank to offer special rate CD

SMITHSBURG - The First United Bank & Trust will be offering a special rate certificate of deposit to raise funds for the Smithsburg Veteran's Park fund.

First United will donate one quarter of 1 percent of the amount invested to the park fund. Patrons that purchase the certificate of deposits will receive a 5 percent annual percentage yield.
