May 01, 1999

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. - Jimmy Rhodes scattered seven hits to improve his record to 6-0 as No. 1 Jefferson defeated Choate-Rosemary Hall (Conn.) 9-4 on Saturday afternoon to complete a sweep of the three-team mixer at the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Rhodes went the distance with three walks and four strikeouts and held down the fort after Choate (14-1-1) took an early 3-0 lead.

The Cougars (21-3) tied the score in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Mike Moulton and took the lead on Justin Osbourn's two-run homer in the fifth.

Scott Wells gave Jefferson some insurance with a three-run dinger in the sixth.

Moulton and Josh Cenate had two hits apiece.
