Katherine E. Gordon

Katherine Elizabeth Gordon, 78, of 274 Frederick St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at Morning Glory Retirement Home in State Line, Pa.

Born May 2, 1920, in New York, she was the daughter of the late William O. and Sylva B. Brown Lisle.

She retired from International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Brethren in Christ Church, and Willing Workers Class.

She is survived by three daughters, Sylva Kestler of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Diana Turner of Clear Spring and Beth Sirbaugh of Boonsboro; a son, Ray Gordon of Hagerstown; a sister, Edna Murphy of Mantua, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Gordon and Janice Gordon.

Memorial services will be Monday at 7 p.m. at Pleasant Hill United Brethren in Christ Church, 3664 Coseytown Road, Greencastle, Pa. Pastor Jim Mack will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 322-324 E. Antietam St., Suite 306B, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Matthew J. Luipersbeck

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Matthew Justin "Loopy" Luipersbeck, 17, of 507 Lady Diane Court, died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, in Hagerstown.

Born Dec. 6, 1981, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Michael Anthony Luipersbeck of Hagerstown and Kathy Frances Spitzer Luipersbeck of Falling Waters.

He attended Hedgesville High School; and later North Hagerstown High School.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Cierrah Noel Johns of Hagerstown; a brother, Michael A. Luipersbeck Jr. of Falling Waters; maternal grandmother, Mary Frances Spitzer of Funkstown; aunts; uncles and cousins.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Richard A. Kroll will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lois E. Pappas

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Lois E. Pappas, 69, of Hedgesville, died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

Born Nov. 8, 1929, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie B. and Molly Hoover Blevins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Samuel Pappas.

She was employed by Washington County Hospital as a nurse's assistant.

She is survived by two sisters, Betty Jean Payne of Phoenix and Chessie Bailey of Hagerstown; three sons, John Sherman Pappas of Hedgesville, Michael Clark Pappas of Mercersburg, Pa., and Christopher Thomas Pappas of Williamsport; three grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Blevins and Elma Story; and two brothers, Stuart Blevins and Dale Blevins.

Graveside services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Central Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.

Naomi C. Baker

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Naomi Chrisman Baker, 82, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Heartland of Martinsburg.

Born Oct. 26, 1916, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin N. and Lydia Ellen Gain Chrisman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. "Buddy" Baker.

She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School and Shepherd College.

She was employed by the Berkeley County Board of Education for 18 years, retiring in 1969.

She was a life member of Calvary United Methodist Church and was active in the Adult Choir.

She was a member of National Retired Teachers Association; West Virginia Association of Retired Employees; Berkeley County and American Association of Retired Persons.

She was associated with her husband's business, the Atlantic Service Station.

She is survived by a sister, Virginia C. Davis of Heartland Nursing Home, Martinsburg; a niece, Carol Michael of Martinsburg; and a nephew, Fred Davis of Martinsburg.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate.

Burial will be private at Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Ruth E. Patton

INWOOD, W.Va. - Ruth Esther Patton, 78, of Inwood, and formerly of Baltimore, died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Aug. 11, 1920, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Mildred Shriner Patton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Manuel Cisneros.

She retired as a bookkeeper for Fellowes Manufacturing in Baltimore.
