Lawrence S. Kline

Lawrence Sherman Kline, 77, of 301 Garlinger Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at his home.

Born March 28, 1922, in Middletown, Md., he was the son of the late Sherman A. and Florence E. Blickenstaff Kline.

He retired in 1984 from Fairchild Aircraft after 42 years of service.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Wolfsville.

He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

He is survived by his wife, Margaretta "Margie" A. Huyett Kline; a daughter, Connie Crunkleton of Hagerstown; two sisters, Helen McLucas and Lorraine Barkdoll, both of Wolfsville; two brothers, Gaither Kline of Chandler, Ariz., and the Rev. Marvin Kline of Dundalk, Md.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, 12477 Wolfsville Road, Wolfsville. The Rev. Randy Reid will officiate. Burial will be in Wolfsville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown; and Tuesday one hour before the services at the church.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

James J. Powell

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - James J. Powell, 68, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at City Hospital, Martinsburg. He had been a resident of Care Haven of Berkeley.

Born Nov. 28, 1930, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Jacob E. and Madeline Albert Powell.

He attended Martinsburg High School.

He was formerly employed with Potomac Edison and was the owner of Powell's Sales and Service.

He was a member of Winchester Avenue Christian Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Stacy D. Powell of Martinsburg; a son, David W. Powell of Martinsburg; three sisters, Gladys Turner of Frederick, Md., Emily Snapp and Phyllis Butler, both of Inwood, W.Va.; a brother, Ralph Powell of Martinsburg; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy P. Reid.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Timothy Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Oneida S. Haupt

Oneida Susan Haupt, 85, of 9833 Meadow Rock Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born April 9, 1914, in Park Hall, Md., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Fannie Poffenberger Reeder.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira W. Haupt, in 1991.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Rohrersville.

She is survived by three daughters, Esther L. O'Neal of Rohrersville, and Shirley V. Haupt and Juanita K. Haupt, both of Hagerstown; three sons, Donald L. Haupt of Falling Waters, W.Va., R. Wayne Haupt Sr. of Sharpsburg and Ira W. Haupt Jr. of Rohrersville; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary N. Smith; and two brothers, Charles W. Reeder and Ray E. Reeder.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Carolyn Boyce will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
