Summer day camps run by the Hagerstown YMCA at Wheaton Park, Hellane Park and Pangborn Park would again be funded by the City of Hagerstown under the proposed budget for the 2000 fiscal year, which begins July 1.
The summer camps cost the city about $44,000 a year.
The eight-week camps run from June 21 through Aug. 13. As many as 200 children between the ages of 6 and 10 attend the three camps each summer, according to YMCA staff.
The mayor and City Council members reviewed the recommendation to continue funding the program during Tuesday's council meeting.
The funding would become part of the total $64.8 million city budget, which the council is expected to vote to adopt on May 25.
