Sandoval and Lynch, a pair of starters who will be sharing the fifth spot in the Suns' rotation, limited Hickory to five hits. Sandoval (1-0) allowed Rico Williams a one-out homer in the first. Lynch wiggled out of trouble in the fifth to pitch four innings for a save.

The Suns (4-1) used a solo home run by Jay Gibbons in the second, an RBI groundout by Felipe Lopez in the third and a wild pitch to score Ryan Bundy in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead.

Hagerstown blew the game open with four runs in the ninth, three coming off a pair of errors by Hickory backup shortstop Shaun Skrehot.

Juan Nieves doubled, Bundy was hit by a pitch and Justin Davies walked to load the bases before Skrehot booted Matt Logan's grounder for a run.

After a wild pitch plated the second run, Skrehot booted Jorge Nunez's shot for a two-run, two-base error.
