SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Justin Osbourn went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, including the game-winner in the sixth inning, as Jefferson knocked off Thomas Johnson.

Josh Green drew a one-out walk and stole second. With two out, Josh Cenate was intentionally walked before Osbourn ripped a single to left, scoring Green.

Jimmy Rhodes (1-0) threw a complete-game three-hitter for the Cougars (1-1). He walked three and struck out 12 and helped his cause with a solo homer in the second inning. Eric Smoot added two hits.

Middletown 8, Brunswick 6

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Middletown scored six times in the first two innings and held on to defeat Brunswick in a Monocacy Valley Athletic League game, the season opener for both teams.

Kenny Robey led off the first with a home run, and added a double and single for the Knights (1-0, 1-0), while teammate Brad Conn went 3-for-3.

Justin Wilt had three hits for the Railroaders (0-1, 0-1), while Chris Baugher and Kevin Goode each went 2-for-4.

Chad Keller (1-0) picked up the win and Brian Moore got the save for the Knights. Kevin Goode (0-1) was tagged with the loss.

Walkersville 9, FSK 0

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Bret Fouche pitched six innings of two-hit ball, and Walkersville pounded out 10 hits in an MVAL win over Francis Scott Key.

The Lions led 3-0 after three innings, but scored three times in both the fourth and sixth innings to secure the win.

Matt Doyle had a pair of doubles and a single with two RBIs to spark Walkersville (1-0, 1-0), while Matt Hammond went 2-for-4.

Dustin Dreisonstok pitched a hitless seventh inning for Walkersville.

B. Springs 12, Hedgesville 10

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Berkeley Springs scored nine runs in the middle innings to take a 12-7 lead, then held off a Hedgesville rally in the bottom of the seventh for the victory.

Rusti Hovermale led five players with two hits for Berkeley Springs (1-1). Megan Zahnow had two RBIs.

Hedgesville falls to 0-2.

Walkersville 10, FSK 0

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Amy Burdette tossed a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead Walkersville to an MVAL win over Francis Scott Key.

Burdette helped her cause with a home run and a triple. Lisa Abbamonte had three hits, including two triples.

Bethany Seyler, Janet Patterson and Lindsay White each had two hits and Katie Williams homered for the Lions (1-0, 1-0), who finished with 15 hits.

Middletown 10, Brunswick 5

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Middletown scored six runs in the top of the first inning en route to a victory over Brunswick in the MVAL and season opener for both teams.

Megan Pilarcik hit an RBI-triple and Krissy Mayton added an RBI-double in the big first inning for Middletown (1-0, 1-0).

Knights freshman Joanna Kline went 4-for-4 with a triple. Pilarcik and Laura Sigler each had two hits.

Middletown pounded out 13 hits and only allowed two, but committed seven errors, as all of Brunswick's runs were unearned.
