Council backs law against communications towers

March 24, 1999

A proposed law to keep large communications towers and antennas out of residential neighborhoods in Hagerstown was unanimously supported by City Council members Tuesday.

A final council vote on the law is expected April 27.

The law would limit the height of such towers in residential areas to 50 feet.

Towers could be up to 199-feet high in areas zoned for industrial use, under the proposed law.

Existing communications towers would not be affected by a new law.
