BOONSBORO - The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a fire that caused $20,000 damage to a three-story house on Monday morning.

No one was home when the fire broke out at 11:46 a.m. at the house at 20837 Keadle Road in Boonsboro. The home is owned by James Cochran.

A smoke alarm alerted firefighters to the blaze.

About 15 firefighters from Boonsboro, Funkstown and Hagerstown responded to the fire.




Tools, a purse and a chain saw, valued at $3,000, were taken from 17940 Lappans Road on Monday, according to Washington County Sheriff's deputies.

A break-in at a garage at the Fountain Head Country Club on Monday resulted in loss and damages of $710, deputies said.
