Eight men charged in prostitution sting

Undercover police officers charged eight men in a prostitution sting in downtown Hagerstown Friday, Hagerstown City Police said.

Officers from the patrol division and the Street Crimes Unit charged all eight with solicitation for prostitution, police said. Those charged were:

- Russell Eugene Elliott, 64, of 11438 Hopewell Road, Hagerstown.

- Larry Hamilton, 41, of 630 N. Prospect St., Hagerstown.

- Harvey Ellsworth Smith Jr., 49, of 12025 N. Scottish Court, Hagerstown.

- Jeffrey Richard Elsaesser, 36, of 10268 Knob Road, Mercersburg, Pa.

- Thomas Van Strode, 49, of 9782 Park Valley Road, Fannettsburg, Pa.

- Harold Donald Miller, 58, of 50 Summit Ave., Room 223, Hagerstown.

- Joseph John Natoli, 70, of 13245 Buena Vista Road, Waynesboro, Pa.

- Thomas Michalle Shuffler, 45, of 14328 Buchanan Trail East, Waynesboro, Pa.


The men were released on their own recognizance.
