New Market woman dies in accident

FREDERICK, Md. - A New Market, Md., woman was killed when a man driving a stolen car ran a red light and struck her vehicle at Md. 144 and Md. 75 on Thursday morning, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.

Larue Flora Davis, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Davis was headed east on Md. 144 and a car driven by Shaun Alan Harrison, 20, of Thurmont, Md., was southbound on Md. 75 when the cars collided in the intersection at 5:15 a.m., deputies said.

Deputies said the 1998 Plymouth Neon Harrison was driving was a rental car that was reported stolen at around 6 a.m., about 45 minutes after the wreck. It had been parked in front of a Frederick County residence when it was taken, they said.

Davis' 1995 Ford Ranger was hit on the right front panel, causing it to spin and overturn.

Davis, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected from the vehicle, deputies said.

Harrison was charged with vehicle theft and driving with a suspended license.

Deputies said results of a blood-alcohol test were pending, and the investigation is continuing.
