Meeting to discuss stadium canceled

March 15, 1999

A meeting to discuss a proposed business park and baseball stadium with residents of the Salem Avenue neighborhood in Hagerstown where the complex would be built has been canceled.

The meeting had been scheduled for March 17 at Western Heights Middle School. It will be rescheduled after a study of the Home Run Business Park being done by the Hagerstown-Washington County Industrial Foundation Inc., known as CHIEF, is completed, Hagerstown City Administrator Bruce Zimmerman said.

The meeting was canceled because the mayor and City Council members thought it would be better to provide residents with information produced by the CHIEF study in addition to previous studies, Zimmerman said.

The CHIEF study is expected to be completed by either the end of this month or early April, Zimmerman said.

The CHIEF study is expected to look at the economic feasibility of building a $14.5 million business park/stadium/visitor's center near the Interstate 81 interchange with Salem Avenue.
