March 05, 1999

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the death of a homeless man whose body turned up at a paper recycling plant on Friday.

The death of Mario Via, 54, is not considered suspicious, according to police.

Via's body was found Friday morning at the Chambersburg Waste Paper Co. at 2047 Loop Road in Guilford Township among paper that had been delivered there for recycling, police said.

Police theorize that the man had covered himself with cardboard to keep warm, said Cpl. George Cronin.

However, police are unsure exactly how the man died.

They also are looking for Via's family or friends.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Franklin County Deputy Chief Coronor Jeff Conner at 717-369-3226 or 717-264-6090.
