Washington County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who reportedly tried to abduct a 21-year-old woman early Tuesday as she walked along Security Road.

The woman told deputies she was approached from behind at 2:15 a.m. by a black man who told her to get into his car.

She said she looked to see if she knew the man and saw that he had a knife in his left hand, deputies said.

The woman fled and called authorities.

The man is described as about 35 to 40 years old. He was driving an older, dark blue compact two-door car in poor condition, deputies said.

A burglary Monday at 11510 Greenberry Road netted thieves about $2,400 in property, Maryland State Police said.

The homeowner came home and noticed things were out of place. A check revealed a basement door had been forced.

Taken were a VCR, some CDs, jewelry and three prescription pill bottles.

FREDERICK, Md. - A veteran police officer's instincts led to the apprehension of a Temple Hills, Md., man and a substantial quantity of illegal drugs Monday evening.

Paul Edward Webb, 30, of the 7000 block of Allentown Road, was charged with possession with intent to distribute illegal drugs, possession of drugs and trespassing, according to Officer Christine Saul of the Frederick City Police Department.

At 7:30 p.m., Saul was on patrol when she saw a man acting suspiciously near the entrance to an apartment at the John Hanson Apartments.

She and another officer waited for the man to come out and when they approached him, he ran, police said.

After a brief foot chase, Webb was apprehended. Drugs that were discarded during the chase were recovered, police alleged.

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Vandals armed with paint balls damaged a barn and a fence at the Mountain View Mini Zoo in Brush Creek Township on Monday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

A reward is being offered.
