A Hagerstown girl was killed when the car in which she was a passenger collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Md. 66 and Mount Aetna Road Sunday evening, according to Maryland State Police Trooper 1st Class R.A. Plante.

Plante said Briana Paige Gossard, 15, of Dartmouth Drive, was pronounced dead at the Washington County Hospital later that evening. She received injuries to the head, chest, abdomen, ankle and arm, police said.

Gossard was sitting in the front passenger seat of a car driven by a 16-year-old Hagerstown boy.

The teen was eastbound on Mount Aetna Road at 7:15 p.m. when his Volkswagen Fox collided with a Ford Mustang traveling west on Md. 66 driven by John Joseph Williams, 30, of Smithsburg.

Williams received minor injuries in the accident and was treated and released from the Washington County Hospital, police said.

Two passengers were in Williams' vehicle. Michelle Rene Williams, 11, of Smithsburg, received minor injuries and was not treated; Joseph Steven Williams, 10, of Smithsburg, was uninjured.
