Steak house plans approved

February 25, 1999

Plans to build a steak house-style restaurant at the Hagerstown Commons off Dual Highway were unanimously approved Wednesday by Hagerstown Planning Commission members, City Planner Matt Davis said.

The Planning Commission was the only city board that needed to vote on the plan to build the proposed Texas Roadhouse restaurant.

The restaurant is expected to go on a corner lot along Edgewood Drive behind the AC&T gasoline station. It will be almost 7,500 square feet, Davis said.

Construction of the restaurant could begin by the end of March and the restaurant could open in August, said Gayle Grismer, who will oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant.

The restaurant will have seating for 230 customers and will have between 110 and 120 employees, Grismer said.

The Texas Roadhouse is a national franchise based in Louisville, Ky.

There are about 45 Texas Roadhouse restaurants in the United States. Most are in the Midwest, Grismer said.
