Charles W. Saylor Sr.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Charles William "Jumbo" Saylor Sr., 78, of 7 W. Shennandale Road, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at his home.

Born June 2, 1920, in Ladiesburg, Md., he was the son of the late Claude W. and Anna Mary Shank Saylor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Catherine Ramsburg Saylor, in 1995.

He was formerly employed by Western Maryland Railroad. He then farmed, retiring in 1983.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Creagerstown.

He was a charter member of VFW Post 8806, Union Bridge, Md., a member of South Jefferson Ruritan Club, Glade Valley Grange and Bowling League, Mixed Bowling League, Walkersville Bowling Center, and Maryland Cooperative Milk Producers.

He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Jacobs of Presque Isle, Maine, and Carol Jean Dyer of Hagerstown; three sons, Robert L. Saylor of Frederick, Md., Dennis E. Saylor of Sterling, Va., and Preston L. Saylor of Charles Town; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Charles L. Saylor; and one brother, Donald L. Saylor.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Creagerstown. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, Woodsboro.

Hilda V. Stenger

BOONSBORO - Hilda V. Stenger, 91, of Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro, and formerly of 10823 Grindstone Hill Road, Greencastle, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, in the home.

Born Aug. 2, 1907, in Antrim Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Lulu B. Kauffman Stine.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A. "Chet" Stenger, in 1988.

She attended Waynesboro Business School.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Ebenezer "Guitners" United Brethren Church near Greencastle.

She is survived by one daughter, Doris Coffman of Palosverdes Estates, Calif.; two sons, Wayne E. Stenger of Greencastle, and Dean F. Stenger of Hagerstown; one sister, Anna Belle Fries of Mercersburg, Pa.; one brother, Charles Stine of Greencastle; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Max A. Stenger; and one sister, Lucille Reeder.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Esther I. Miller

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Esther I. Miller, 53, of RD 2, Warfordsburg, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at her home.

Born March 30, 1945, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Harry Edward and Irene Orndorff Faith.

She was formerly employed by Londontown in Hancock.

She was a life member of Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Hancock.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence H. Miller, whom she married in 1969; one daughter, Robin Morrison of Warfordsburg; one sister, Angelene Mannon of Hagerstown; two brothers, Jason Faith of Warfordsburg, and Donald Faith of Hagerstown; and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Priscilla Atkins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Berm Road, Hancock. The Bishop K. Paul Bowers will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The funeral home will be open from 2 p.m.

Ruth E. Main

Ruth Esther Main, 86, of 617 Chestnut St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, in Hagerstown.

Born Oct. 26, 1912, in Frederick, Md., she was the daughter of the late George Elmer and Virginia Schley Brengle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard M. Main, in 1977.

She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Weller of Hagerstown; two sons, Michael Main and Stoyan L. Russell, both of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

There will be no viewing.

John M. Pensinger

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - John M. Pensinger, 79, of ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, and formerly of Orrstown, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, in the nursing home.

Born May 6, 1919, in Greencastle, Pa., he was the son of the late Lawrence and Lottie Wishard Pensinger.

He was a graduate of Greencastle High School.

He was a car salesman. He also bought and sold antiques.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
