HCC men eliminated

BALTIMORE - This time, E.T. dropped a dime and phoned home on Hagerstown Community College.

E.T. Jackson scored 43 points, combining with point guard Anthony Chase for 36 first-half points, to lift Dundalk to an 89-80 victory over Hagerstown Community College on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Maryland JuCo Conference state tournament.

The loss ended HCC's season.

Jackson, the conference's leading scorer, led an onslaught by Dundalk's guards to lift the tounament's No. 6 seed over the fourth-seeded Hawks. Jackson and Chase combined for 62 points while keeping HCC's Shawn Waller and Norman Loney scoreless.

HCC (20-8) led 25-12 in the first half until missing four of five foul shots to open the door for Dundalk.

Dundalk took advantage of the Hawks' foul trouble to close within 48-45 at the half.

Dundalk slowly gained the lead behind its guards. HCC trailed 84-80 with 30 seconds remaining and failed to capitalize on the possession, ending its chances for the comeback win.

Lionel Jackson led HCC with 18 points and 12 rebounds while LaVar Robinson had 17 points and 18 rebounds.
