100 Favorite Songs

February 19, 1999

In preparation for the new century, we asked readers to look back at the last 100 years and tell us what their favorite songs were. Some newsroom staffers filled in the last few.

The list includes a wide range of styles, including patriotic, religious, romantic, Dixieland, classic rock and country. A few well-known Christmas carols were among our readers' choices, as were some basic feel-good tunes.

Let this compilation, listed in no particular order, take you back or, better yet, throw on an old record or slide an eight-track in the tape deck and feel the beat of a time gone by!
