Charles R. Kirby

Charles Raland Kirby, 83, of 11210 Lakeview Drive, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at his home.

Born July 1, 1915, in Davy, W.Va., he was the son of the late Rufus Monroe and Florence Edna Morgan Kirby.

He retired from the State of Maryland.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Davis Kirby; two daughters, Sherry Colville, and Robyn Kirby, both of Parkville, Md.; one sister, Sylvia Kessel of Louisiana; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Estell Kirby; one son, Mark Kirby; four sisters, Gertrude Breashears, Carrie Armentrout, Jessie Stitchberry, and Ruth Elzey; and three brothers, Clarence Kirby, Orville Kirby, and William Kirby.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Scott A. Exline

Scott Auther Clinton "Pete" Exline, 55, of 17735 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at his home.

Born June 27, 1943, in Grafton, W.Va., he was the son of the late Auther Dequoy and Willa LaRue Canfield Exline.

He was employed as a truck driver by Roadway of Hagerstown, retiring in 1998. He previously owned and operated Exline Trucking in Sharpsburg.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He is survived by his wife, Georgina A. Richardson Exline; five sons, Scott A. Exline II, Edmond D. Exline, James W. Exline, and Robert D. Exline, all at home, and Joseph L. Exline of Denver; five sisters, Wilda J. Exline, Vonda J. Stutler and Wyoma M. Gerkin, all of Grafton, Wanda J. Stutler of Cumberland, Md., and Idesta L. Exline of Hagerstown; four brothers, Charles R. Exline of Grafton, David L. Exline, Bernard N. Exline, and Thomas K. Exline all of Sharpsburg; and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Willard L. Exline, Lawrence O. Exline, Ed Exline, Darl E. Exline, and Denzil M. Exline.

Military graveside services will be held at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery, Grafton, at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport.

Clara V. Newcomer

QUINCY, Pa. - Clara Virginia Newcomer, 90, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 235 Oller Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at the home.

Born Aug. 17, 1908, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Clifford and Barbara Manetta Lewis Keyser.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Fritz Newcomer Sr., whom she married in 1928.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She was a housewife.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Stouffer of Smithsburg, and Shirley Chen of 29 Palms, Calif.; one son, Harold F. Newcomer Jr., of Great Mills, Md.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two children.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in The Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Albert Guyer will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lillian C. Culmer

QUINCY, Pa. - Lillian Christina Culmer, 102, formerly of Townhouse Manor, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at Quincy Home in Quincy, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Culmer.

She is survived by one daughter, Ruth L. Stacer of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 27 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Allegheny County Memorial Park, Allison Park, Pa.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Cornelia M. Gray

Cornelia M. Gray, 90, formerly of 421 Sumans Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born Jan. 13, 1909, in Middletown, Va., she was the daughter of the late Russel and Ada Anchor Butler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gray, in 1972.

She was employed as a domestic servant and a hotel maid.

She was a member of the Zion Baptist Church.

She is survived by one niece, Catherine Williams of Winchester, Va.; and one nephew, Pookie Butler of Winchester.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Haru Carter Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

Visitation will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
