Gloria L. Wolford

Gloria Lorraine Wolford, 77, of 16244 Mt. Tabor Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at her home.

Born Aug. 9, 1921, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Mary Delauter Mullenix.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Rich Wolford, who died in 1965.

She is survived by four daughters, Phyllis Layhue, Patricia Sipes, Audrey Wolford, and Mary Llewellyn, all of Hagerstown; four sons, Frederick T. Wolford, Robert Wolford, Walter Wolford, and Frank Wolford, all of Hagerstown; four sisters, Mildred Toms, Beatrice Myers, Valeri Eccard, all of Hagerstown, and Nadine Bercaw of Smithsburg; two brothers, Harold Mullenix, and Nervin Mullenix, both of Hagerstown; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Monn, and Genevieve Mullenix; and two brothers, Darren Mullenix and Freddy Mullenix.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Alvin Shafer will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Sarah E. Turner

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Sarah Elizabeth Turner, 73, of Mannings, Harpers Ferry, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at INOVA Hospital, Fairfax, Va.

Born Oct. 9, 1925, in Chestnut Hill, Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Mabel Violet Ott Wilt.

She was formerly employed as a school bus driver for Jefferson County Board of Education.

She was a member of Bolivar Pentecostal Church, Harpers Ferry.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Guilford P. Turner; three daughters, Darlene T. Weister, Inez Ridgeway, and Trixana T. Carter, all of Harpers Ferry; three sons, B. Guilford Turner of Charles Town, W.Va., Duane L. Turner of Harpers Ferry, and Ronald L. Turner of Halltown, W.Va.; one sister, Beatrice Angelo of Manassas, Va.; twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Edward Turner.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Bolivar Pentecostal Church, Harpers Ferry. The Rev. B. Guilford Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

The family will receive friends tonight and Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home.

Esther C. Funk

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Esther C. Funk, 87, of 1425 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, and formerly of 1030 South Coldbrook Avenue, Chambersburg, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg.

Born July, 18, 1911, in Spring Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Elton B. and Blanche M. Craig Crouse.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John M. Funk, who died in 1989.

She was employed by Jack's Exxon, Chambersburg, as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of Zion Reformed Church, Chambersburg.

She was a 50-year member of Martha Custis Chapter 342 order of the Eastern Star, Samaira Shrine 43, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Gettysburg, Pa., Franklin County Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, Ladies Auxiliary of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, American Association of Retired Person 2287, Chambersburg, Chambersburg Senior Center, Golden Age Club, Chambersburg, and former Brownie Troop Leader at Zion Reformed Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Sally Ziegler of Fox Point, Wisc.; one son, John C. Funk of Chambersburg; one sister, Mary C. Funk of Chambersburg; one brother, James P. Crouse of Harrisburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Crouse.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Jeffrey R. Diller will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Members of Martha Custis Chapter 342 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct services this evening at 8.

Anna M. Gerhold

FT. LOUDON, Pa. - Anna M. Gerhold, 73, of 957 Bear Valley Road, Ft. Loudon, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at her home.

Born July 27, 1925, in Mt. Rock, Southampton Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harvey M. Sr., and Mabel Shriver Gerhold.

She was a homemaker, but had previously worked at Chambersburg Hospital for 21 years, retiring in 1989.
