Mary M. Horine

ROHRERSVILLE, Md. - Mary Mae Stine Horine, 81, of 4547 Locust Grove Road, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 30, 1917, in Rohrersville, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Addie F. Poffenberger Stine.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church at Locust Grove, Md.

She is survived by her husband, of 61 years, Glenn William Horine; a daughter, Glendora M. Horine of Falling Waters, W.Va.; and a sister, Mabel Fisher of Keedysville.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Eakle.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Blaine E. Feightner will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery at Locust Grove.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Norwood K. Winders

Norwood K. Winders, 76, of Cool Hollow Road, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 16, 1922, in Beaver Creek, he was the son of the late Hubert B. and Elsie Martz Winders.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nora Needy Winders, in 1993.

He was an antiques dealer.

He is survived by his second wife, Virginia M. Shockey Winders; his twin sister, Virginia Mae Martin of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale R. Winders.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Beaver Creek Cemetery. Pastor Charles Griffin will officiate.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holly Place, in care of Melanie Socks, 268 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Sarah L. Levi

Sarah Lorraine Levi, 82, of Julia Manor Health Care Center, 333 Mill St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at the health care center.

Born July 12, 1916, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Mildred Levi.

She attended North Street School.

She worked in food service; and as a housekeeper.

She was a member of Second Christian Church.

She was a member of Senior Citizen Club.

She is survived by a foster son, Steven of Hagerstown; two sisters, Alice and Cora, both of Hagerstown; three children, Theo, Traci and Maurice, all of Hagerstown; nieces; nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Second Christian Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. RoseAnn Duckett will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

The viewing will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements are by Watson Funeral Home, 24 W. Bethel St., Hagerstown.

Donald L. Schaller Sr.

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Donald Lee Schaller Sr., 61, of 13623 Blue Ridge Ave., died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center.

Born March 30, 1937, in Palmyra, Mo., he was the son of the late George Otto Paul and Nellie Plymate Schaller.

He was a 1955 graduate of Palmyra High School.

He was employed at Fort Ritchie, Site-R for 35 years, retiring in 1977.

He served six years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

He was a member of Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Blue Ridge Summit, and was on the Vestry and a lay reader.

He was a member of Acacia Lodge 155, Free and Accepted Masons in Thurmont, Md., Blue Ridge Sportsman Association, Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire Co. and National AARP.

He was an inventor and patent holder of Life Spotter since 1989.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dona L. DeWees Schaller; two daughters, Dawn S. Kohler of Waynesboro, Pa., and DeLea S. Barkdoll of Columbia, Md.; one son, Donald L. Schaller Jr. of Blue Ridge Summit; three sisters, Onita Schaller of Hannibal, Mo., Shirley Campfield of Independence, Mo., and Dimple Potterfield of Palmyra; one brother, George Robert Schaller of Brunswick, Ga.; one grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Schaller.

Services will be Monday at noon at Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, Blue Ridge Summit. The Rev. Daphne S. Killhour will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration Youth Group, P.O. Box B, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa. 17214.

Charles W. Hammond

WILLIAMSPORT - Charles Walter "Chalk" Hammond, 94, of Milestone Garden Apartments, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 15, 1904, in Taneytown, Md., he was the son of the late Christian Albert and Molly Jane Marmaduke Hammond.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Grace Hammond, in 1981.

He had been a farmer and truck driver.

He was a member of St. James Brethren Church.
