CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - An autopsy Tuesday determined a Chambersburg woman died of multiple blunt force trauma in a one-car accident Monday night, according to Franklin County Chief Deputy Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner.

Helen L. Jones, 81, of Chambersburg, was killed in a 10:05 p.m. accident when here car ran into a parked pickup truck at Bulger's Auto Sales, 2859 Lincoln Way West, in Hamilton Township.

Jones was the second woman killed in a traffic accident Monday. Conner said Christine M. Raifsnider, 35, of Fayetteville, Pa., died of severe head injuries in a 5:15 p.m. accident on Interstate 81 in Antrim Township.

Conner said there was no evidence of medical problems in the death of Jones. She was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Corsica east when the car crossed the center turn lane and westbound lane. The car struck the pickup, spun around and came to rest partially atop a low concrete block wall.

Jones was not wearing a seatbelt, but the airbag in her car deployed, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Raifsnider was traveling north when her 1996 Geo Metro crossed the median and collided nearly head-on with a southbound 1997 Ford Explorer driven by John B. Humphrey, 39, of Monterey, Mass., according to state police.

Humphrey was in serious but stable condition Tuesday evening at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Unit in Baltimore, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Conner said investigators had not determined the cause of either accident.

State police are asking for information about a Saturday night accident that killed a Chambersburg man. Randy L. Kaiser Sr., 38, was killed when his 1994 Ford Explorer hit a tree at the intersection of Pa. 316 and Grindstone Hill Road.
