CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A Berkeley County man charged in the shooting death of his former wife and the wounding of her boyfriend pleaded not guilty in Jefferson County Circuit Court Monday.

William Trampas Widmyer, 28, of Route 2, Bunker Hill, pleaded not guilty to six charges: first-degree murder, malicious assault, petit larceny, breaking and entering, possessing a vehicle knowing it to be stolen and destruction of property, according to Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney Michael D. Thompson.

Widmyer did not give any reason for pleading innocent, Thompson said.

Widmyer was indicted two weeks ago in the Nov. 15 shooting death of his former wife, Tara Widmyer, 25, and the wounding of Larry Miller, 32, of Charles Town, according to court records.

The two were shot while they were watching television in Tara Widmyer's house at 107-B East Sixth Ave. in Ranson, W.Va.

Widmyer turned himself in to police in Woodstock, Va., two days later.

His trial has been scheduled for July 20.

Widmyer is being held without bond at the Eastern Regional Jail near Martinsburg, W.Va.

Thompson said Widmyer's attorneys have indicated they will not try to seek a bond for him.
