Joyce Heptner has been named deputy executive director of the Community Foundation of Washington County Maryland Inc., according to the organization's board of trustees.
With the appointment, Heptner becomes the organization's first full-time employee.
"Moving from a part-time and volunteer staff is a strong indication of the board of trustees commitment to continued growth," said John Waltersdorf, chairman of the foundation's board of trustees. "The addition of Ms. Heptner to our staff will help assure the Foundation's future."
Merle Elliott, chairman of the foundation's search committee, said he was pleased with the caliber of applicants.
"Ms. Heptner was chosen based on her previous activities in Hagerstown and the success of the $5.6 million capital campaign she coordinated in Naples, Fla.," Elliott said. "We are all looking forward to working with her as the Foundation continues its progress."
Heptner is a graduate of Frostburg State University and is pursuing an MBA at Mount St. Mary's College.
