Frederick Community College

FREDERICK, Md. - Richard Ammon, a coordinator of business and conference programing for Frederick Community College, is visiting Rotary District 4240 in Central America for a five-week exchange program. District 4240 includes Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and El Salvador.

Ammon is one of four visitors seeing how their professions are practiced abroad, studying their host countries' institutions and ways of life, developing personal and professional relationships and exchanging ideas.

Their counterparts from Central America are scheduled to visit Rotary District 7350, which includes parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, later this year.


NuTec Design Associates

NuTec Design Associates Inc. has announced that Mark N. Ottemiller has been named executive vice president.

Ottemiller has been with the company since it was founded in 1986.

He is a licensed professional engineer in six states including Pennsylvania and Maryland, and a member of the American Concrete Institute and the American Institute of Steel Construction.


Manpower in Hagerstown named Pamela Keefauver and Kendra Wilburn its Employees of the Month for December.

Keefauver started working for Manpower in August of 1997. She has perfect attendance. Her last three quality Performance Reviews were excellent.

Wilburn started working for Manpower in August last year. She has successfully completed three assignments and is currently doing an excellent on another. She had perfect scores on her last evaluation.

All Employees of the Month receive a plaque and a $50 gift certificate.

Keller Bruner & Co.

FREDERICK, Md. - Keller Bruner & Co. LLP, has announced that Scott Blackburn has received professional certification as a certified public accountant. He has completed and passed all four sections of the CPA exam.

Blackburn, an advanced senior with Keller Bruner & Co., joined the firm in January 1997 with three years of experience in accounting and accounting software.

His specialty is in the non-profit industry.

Office Essentials

Office Essentials Inc. has appointed Dawn Beckly, of Hagerstown, to accounting manager.

Beckly, a former accounting manager for the Washington County Association for Retarded Citizens, will oversee the corporation's accounting operations.


Jason Weicht, correctional officer sergeant, and David Rizer, correctional officer II, have been named employees of the month for January at Roxbury Correctional Institution. Weicht and Rizer are receiving the award for their help teaching in-service classes to correctional employees at the Hagerstown Regional Training Complex.

Also, recent promotions at the Roxbury Correctional Institution involve 11 officers with a total of 174 years of service to the Division of Correction. They include Major Mervil Myers, 36 years; Lt. Gary Blickenstaff, 18 years; Capt. Ronald Angle and Lt. Harry Baker, 16 years; Capt. Lawrence Miller, Lt. Roger McAfee, Lt. Calvin Sipes, and Sgt. Richard Miller, 15 years; Sgt. John Moyer, 13 years; Sgt. Jeffrey Sigler, eight years; and Weicht, seven years.

Menno Village

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Deb Tanner, of Chambersburg, has been named employee of the month for January at Menno Village on Scotland Avenue in Chambersburg.

Tanner, who is a registered nurse, is the clinical supervisor.

She has worked for Menno Village since 1973.

Jean Rosenberger and Elva Kroeger, of ERA Penn 1st Realty, have been recognized for their outstanding performance in listings, sales and customer service during December.

Rosenberger works at the company's Waynesboro, Pa., office at 1814 E. Main St., and Kroeger works in the Chambersburg, Pa., office at 999 Lincoln Way East.

Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center of Maryland

FREDERICK, Md. - Dr. Nathan Wei recently was asked to give a talk entitled, "Breakthrough Therapies in Rheumatoid Arthritis" to a group of specialists in Chicago.

Rheumatoid arthritis is the most common inflammatory form of arthritis and affects over 2 million Americans.

Wei is a board certified rheumatologist and is the clinical director of the Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center of Maryland in Frederick.

John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

Jeffrey Thurston, formerly of Hagerstown, was named employee of the month for December at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Thurston has been working at the center since March.

He is senior analyst accountant for the National Symphony Orchestra in the Kennedy Center Finance Department.

Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love PLLC has announced that Stephen M. Mathias joined the law firm.

Mathias' practice focuses on workers' compensation, commercial and real estate law, and is based in the firm's Martinsburg office.

Mathias was an assistant attorney general for the State of West Virginia from 1983 to 1985.

Jefferson Memorial Hospital

RANSON, W.Va. - Dr. Michael Rezaian, a board certified internist and rheumatologist, has joined the medical staff at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

Prior to moving to the Eastern Panhandle, Rezaian practiced at the Rural Outreach Regional Arthritis Centers-Butler in New Wilmington, Pa.

He was also a consultant in arthritis and rheumatology for adults and children at Butler Memorial Hospital.

McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond

FREDERICK, Md. - Kathleen M. Davis, a certified public accountant in the Frederick office of McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond, has been named to the Estate Planning Council of Frederick County.

Davis, of Middletown, Md., is a manager in the firm's tax department.

She has 10 years experience with individual, business, estate and trust clients.
