Marie V. Valentine

Marie V. Valentine, 78, formerly of 63 Broadway, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at Colton Villa Nursing Center, Hagerstown.

Born Aug. 30, 1920, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Belle M. Weber Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Valentine, who died in 1996.

She retired from Fairchild Aircraft in 1982 after 37 years of service.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Lula Belle Robertson of Berkeley Springs, and Sandrith L. Ressler of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two stepdaughters, Sherry K. Valentine and Caroleen J. Ekberg, both of Hagerstown; a stepson, Stanley D. Valentine of Hagerstown; a stepsister, Ann Marie Richards of McConnellsburg, Pa.; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; seven step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Lola Henry Waugh Dawson, a sister, Frances Dawson; a brother, Charles E. Dawson, and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac Street. The Rev. Edward H. Heim will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

Mary Ann E. Gerber

BERRYVILLE, Va. - Mary Ann E. Gerber, 55, of Berryville, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at Rose Hill Nursing Home in Berryville.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, Frederick County, Va.. The Rev. James D. Riley Jr., will officiate.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral home, Martinsburg.

Opal A. Davis

Opal Armeda Davis, 71, of HCR 80, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown.

Born Aug. 22, 1927, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Dorey Franklin and Blanche Ray Robinette.

She was retired from Londontown Manufacturing, Hancock, as a seamstress.

She was a member of Buck Valley Christian Church, Buck Valley, Pa.

She is survived by three daughters, Geraldine R. Burton, Beverly A. Malott and Brenda L. Poole, all of Warfordsburg, Pa.; three sons, Arnold R. Davis of Warfordsburg, Kenneth T. Davis of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Ronald L. Davis of Reno, Nevada; six sisters, Lena Payne of Baker, W.Va., Esther Newton of Deridder, La., Velda Clanton, Eunice C. Robinette and Norma Robinette, all of Hagerstown, and Charlotte Clippinger of Needmore, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald L. Robinette and John Robinette; and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Buck Valley Christian Church. The Rev. William Swope will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock and at the church one hour prior to the service.

For the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open on Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m.

Nancy L. Avey

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Nancy L. Avey, 51, of 332 W. Second Street, Waynesboro, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, following a two-car accident on Route 16 near Beartown, Pa.

Born June 12, 1947, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of Robert G. Hardman of Waynesboro and the late Virginia A. Rock Hardman.

She was a 1965 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School and a 1966 graduate from Waynesboro Business College.

She was employed at CVS Pharmacy, Waynesboro, as a clerk. Prior to that, she was employed at Ye Olde Grill, McCrory's Store, both of Waynesboro, Kraft Korner and Corning Outlet Store.

She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Waynesboro.

She was a member of Friends of Renfrew, Waynesboro, and served as minority inspector at Fairview School during elections.

She is survived by her husband, Charles R. "Dick" Avey, whom she married in 1968; a daughter, Amy R. Muck of Quincy, Pa.; a son, Andrew R. Avey of Shippensburg, Pa.; a brother, Robert L. Hardman of Dallas; a granddaughter; two nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Waynesboro. The Rev. Gary A. Miller will officiate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Paul D. Myers

MURRELLS INLET, SC. - Paul D. Myers, 66, of Salters Cove, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Hancock United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Ruth L. Parker

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Ruth Lorain Parker, 69, of Kearneysville, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at City Hospital.
