Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class James A. Moore, son of Patricia I. and James A. Moore Sr., of Fayetteville, Pa., recently participated in Operation Desert Fox while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, currently deployed to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf. Moore is a 1996 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Chambersburg, Pa.




Air Force Senior Airman Todd A. Wivell, son of William D. and Rachel P. Wivell, of Emmitsburg, Md., has been decorated with the Air Force Achievement Medal. This is his fourth award of the medal.

Wivell is a financial analyst with the 341st Comptroller Squadron at Malstrom Air Force Base, Grand Falls, Mont. Wivell is a 1988 graduate of Catoctin High School, Thurmont, Md.




Air Force Airman Andrew D. Bishop, son of Suzanne M. Bishop of Hagerstown, and Rodney D. Bishop of State Line, Pa., has arrived for duty at Kunsan Air Force Base, Kunsan City, South Korea. Bishop is a 1997 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

Army Pvt. Cheyenne G. Chartier, son of Linda R. Christopher of Chambersburg, Pa., has arrived at Fort Knox, Ky., to complete basic training.

Chartier is a 1998 graduate of James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg, Pa.




Army Pvt. Richard C. Fletcher, son of Christine A. Johann of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Raymond C. Fletcher of Gaithersburg, Md., has arrived at Fort Knox, Ky., to complete basic combat training.




Navy Airman David W. Grant, recently arrived on station in the Arabian Gulf while assigned to Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 117, embarked aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson.

Grant's squadron was sent to the Arabian Gulf to support USS Enterprise Battle Group and USS Belleau Wood Amphibious Ready Group, which recently participated in Operation Desert Fox. Grant's unit flies the E-2C Hawkeye.

Grant also participated in a Pacific Joint Task Force Exercise. His wife, Christina Grant, is the daughter of Rodney Cooke of Harpers Ferry, W.Va. Grant is a 1992 graduate of Potomac Senior High School of Woodbridge, Va.




Navy Ensign Nathan C. Johnston, son of Sidney L. and Marion S. Johnston of Middletown, Md., recently made a port visit to Shanghai, China, aboard the guided missile frigate USS Vandegrift, based in Yokosuka, Japan. Johnston is a 1993 graduate of Pineville High School, Pineville, La., and a 1997 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, with a BAS degree.




Marine Staff Sgt. Charles M. Longerbeam, son of Charles D. and Frances L. Longerbeam, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., has reported for duty at Marine Corps Recruiting Station, New Cumberland, Pa. Longerbeam is a 1983 graduate of Jefferson High School, Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.




Navy Airman Brandee S. Randoll, daughter of James A. Buckley of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Cheryl A. Cunningham of Clear Spring, recently arrived on station in the Arabian Gulf while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, currently deployed to the Western Pacific and Indian oceans and Arabian Gulf.

Randoll's ship was sent to the Gulf to support the USS Enterprise Battle Group and USS Belleau Wood Amphibious Ready Group, which recently participated in Operation Desert Fox. Randoll is a 1992 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.




Navy Lt. j.g. Edward T. Groth, recently arrived on station in the Arabian Gulf while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, currently deployed to the Western Pacific and Indian oceans and Arabian Gulf.

Groth's ship was sent to the Gulf to support the USS Enterprise Battle Group and USS Belleau Wood Amphibious Ready Group, which recently participated in Operation Desert Fox. Groth is a 1991 graduate of Frederick High School, Frederick, Md., and a 1995 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., with a BS degree.




Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Jeremy R. Cromer, son of Robert W. and Cathy Cromer of McConnellsburg, Pa., recently completed a four-month training cruise in the North Atlantic Ocean aboard the attack submarine USS Montpelier.




Marine Cpl. Robert J. Frank, son of Geraldine Frank of Frederick, Md., recently completed a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf with the Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) embarked aboard the ships of the USS Saipan Amphibious Ready Group (ARG).

While deployed Frank participated in the multinational exercises Matador Livex '98, Atlas Hinge, Cooperative Best Effort, Cooperative Assembly '98, Phiblex '98, Rescue Eagle '98, Sardinia '98, Sea Breeze '98 and Dynamic Mix '98.

Frank is a 1994 graduate of Gov. Thomas Johnson High School, Frederick.




Marine Master Sgt. Scott R. Arvin, son of Douglas W. and Helen L. Arvin of Martinsburg, W.Va., recently completed a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) embarked aboard the ships of the USS Saipan Amphibious Ready Group (ARG).
