Glada L. Gates

Glada Lee Gates, 84, of 1020 Mulberry Ave., died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at the home of her niece, Susan C. Branham, in Hopewell, N.J.

Born in Summersville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Della Hamilton Gates.

She was a graduate of Glennville State Teachers College.

She taught school in Nicholas County, W.Va., and Frederick and Washington counties in Maryland.

She was a member of Washington County Retired Teachers Association and National Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her niece, Susan C. Branham of Hopewell; and two great-nieces.

Services will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate. Burial will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Peck Cemetery, in Summersville, W.Va.

Visitation will be Thursday 30 minutes prior to services.

Clara L. Guyer

Clara L. Guyer, 76, formerly of Mercersburg Road, Greencastle, Pa., died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Western Maryland Hospital Center in Hagerstown.

Born Jan. 11, 1923, in Webster's Mills, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Daniel F. and Mary Seville Barnhart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James N. Guyer, in 1957.

She was a homemaker.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Strohl of Dallas, Pa.; five sons, L. Gene Barnhart of Hustontown, Pa., L. Fred Guyer of Aberdeen, Md., Roger Gordon of Fort Loudon, Pa., James Guyer Jr. and John Guyer, both of Hagerstown; 22 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son; one sister; and one brother.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., in Mercersburg, Pa. The Rev. Christian Elliott will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet United Brethren Church Cemetery, Fort McCord Road, Chambersburg, Pa.

The viewing will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

David L. Robinson

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - David L. Robinson, 62, of 9269 Mentzer Gap Road, died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at his home.

Born Aug. 31, 1936, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late David Lloy and Mary Mong Robinson.

He attended Washington Township High School.

He owned and operated the family farm, where he raised Jersey cattle and operated a sawmill. He operated a produce stand at the farm.

He was a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro; and Pennsylvania Farmers Association.

He is survived by his wife, Florence A. Baker Robinson, whom he married March 31, 1961; two daughters, Kelly S. McFerren of Waynesboro and Ann R. Baumgardner of Quincy, Pa.; five grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elaine Conrad.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church, 801 Park St., Waynesboro. Pastor Michael V. Newman and Pastor K. Allan Mummert will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Thursday at 10 a.m. at the church.

There will be no public viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Waynesboro, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Mildred L. Norman

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mildred Lee Norman, 68, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center.

Born July 21, 1930, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Minnie B. Shank Gaylor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tyrus G. Norman.

She retired as a sales associate from Lowe's.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna M. Clipp of Falling Waters, W.Va., Kristi K. Norman and Jullie A. Caniford, both of Martinsburg; a son, Kevin Kent Norman of Martinsburg; three sisters, Mary Brandenburg and Lena Mae Gaylor, both of Hagerstown, and P. Virginia Jordan of Williamsport; two brothers, Albert M. Gaylor and Clyde M. Gaylor, both of Williamsport; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Keith Dana Norman; three sisters, and a brother.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Daniel Jordan will officiate. Burial will be in Manor Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Fairplay.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carolyn Duckery

NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. - Carolyn Duckery, 51, of New Windsor, and formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at West Chester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y.

Born Sept. 28, 1947, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of Charles Taylor Sr. of Chambersburg and the late Estella Blakey Taylor.
