HCC falls to Champlain

CHAMPLAIN, Vt. - Champlain College hit nine of its 11 3-point baskets in the first half to build a 13-point halftime lead on Friday and cruised to a 101-68 victory over Hagerstown Community College in the scheduled first round of a tournament.

Champlain used a balanced attack to take early control of the game. It blew the game open in the second half as Darius Skeete scored 13 of his game-high 24 points.

Champlain hit 11 of 22 of its 3-point attempts in the game.

HCC (12-4) was played short-handed as LaVar Robinson, one of the Hawks leading scorers, played despite a back injury. He only managed two points.

James Fowler led HCC with 18 points.
