Home Builders Association of Washington County

The 1999 officers and board members of the Home Builders Association of Washington County were installed recently at the organization's annual Installation Banquet and Holiday Celebration.

Executive Committee members installed include Jim Fahey, of Hub City Builders, president; David L. Corey Sr., of Landmark Builders/Landmark Inspections, immediate past president; Jim Parker, of Hagerstown Paint & Glass, first vice president; Bill Cosner, of Lowes of Hagerstown, second vice president; Rhonda McDaniel, of Columbia Gas of Maryland, associate vice president; Steve Hose, of Home Federal Savings Bank, treasurer; and Lana Welch, of JJJ Custom Builders, secretary.

Board of Directors members installed include Donald L. Gehr, of Donald L. Gehr, Inc.; Tim Keener, of R.B. Keener & Sons; Dennis Swope, of Home Construction Corp.; Carl Gearhart, of Reliable Builders/Reliable Kitchen Centers; Matt Tiches, of Supreme Concrete Block; Ed Jacobs, of Jacobs Home Improvements; Terry Grove, of Custom Homes by T & S; Glen Singer, of InnerSpace; Russ Townsley, of Fox & Associates; R.L. State Directors installed include Terry Grove, of Custom Homes by T & S; Glen Singer, of InnerSpace; Tim Keener, of R.B. Keener & Sons; and Donald Gehr, of Donald L. Gehr, Inc.

National Directors installed include Taylor Oliver, of Oliver Homes; and Dennis Swope, of Home Construction. Debi Turpin will continue as executive vice president.

Also installed were the officers and board members for the HBAWC Land Use Council. They include Keith Moore, of Frederick Seibert & Associates, president; Rhonda McDaniel, of Columbia Gas of Maryland, vice president; and Roger Fiarbourn, of RE/Max Achievers, secretary/treasurer. Board members include Russ Townsley, of Fox & Associates; Dennis Swope, of Home Construction Corp.; and Michael Gehr, of Burrey Moser Gehr Architects.

Tri-State Safety Council

The Tri-State Safety Council has scheduled a brainstorming session for Jan. 26 to determine topics for this years' meetings.

The meeting will be held at the Venice Inn in Hagerstown. Dinner begins at 6:15 p.m. The meeting and program starts at 7 p.m.

The cost is $10 per person. Dinner reservations are required by Jan. 22 by calling Amy Newlin at 1-301-662-6100, ext. 2371.

WovenHearts

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - WovenHearts, an assisted living and specialized memory care residence at 745 Norland Ave. in Chambersburg, will host a free program on Jan. 22 about protecting senior citizens from scams and solicitation.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Ed Asbury will offer tips from 10 - 11 a.m. on how to recognize and avoid senior scams.

Manpower

Norma Sprecher and Allison Smith were each named Employee of the Month for November at Manpower in Hagerstown.

Sprecher has worked in the Manpower office since November, 1997. She volunteers to fill vacant short-term receptionist assignments.

Smith has learned several different jobs within Preprocessing and is cross-trained to support Mail Opening. She recently took on responsibility for training the newest Manpower team members.

Employees of the Month receive a plaque and a $50 gift certificate.

Monumental Life Insurance

Monumental Life Insurance Co. named Leonard D. Campbell, of Hagerstown, Agent of the Month for December.

He was also named Monumental Sales Person of the Year.

Campbell, who has been in the insurance business since 1961, joined Monumental in 1994.

He is a sales representative in the Chambersburg, Greencastle and Waynesboro areas in Pennsylvania.

He has attended company conventions and won various awards, including a trip to Rome.

Roadway Express

Roadway Express drivers Donald Snively, of Rouzerville, Pa., and Ed O'toole have been recognized for safe driving.

O'toole has logged two million miles without a preventable accident.

Snively has logged one million miles without a preventable accident.

Both have been Roadway Express drivers for 27 years.

Eastern Panhandle Board of Realtors

The Eastern Panhandle Board of Realtors has donated $987 to the food pantries and $425 to the United Way organizations of Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties in West Virginia.

The contributions resulted from hard work by the organization's Community Service Commitee chaired by Debbie Small and its Realtor/Affiliate Committee chaired by Linda Holtz.

Dr. Nils W. Olson

FREDERICK, Md. - Dr. Nils W. Olson, a Frederick dentist, was recently awarded Accredited Member status by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Olson, who has practiced in Frederick since 1978, is a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry.
