C. Lester Eyerly Sr.

C. Lester Eyerly Sr., 89, of 750 Dual Highway, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Colton Villa Nursing Center.

Born Aug. 10, 1909 in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Albert Hassler and Elizabeth Ebersole Eyerly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Nield Eyerly, in 1996.

He was employed by Eastern Products Corp. for 21 years, retiring in 1977. Before that he worked at Schindle and Rohr and Co. Inc.

He was a member of Salem Reformed Church U.C.C.

He was a life member of Maugansville Fire Co.

He is survived by three daughters, Linda Ann Clingan of Frederick, Md., Lois Ellen Campbell of Wake Forest, N.C., and Sally Elizabeth Preble of Westminster, Md.; a son, Charles Lester Eyerly Jr. of Martinez, Calif.; two brothers, Ray H. Eyerly of Baltimore and J. Lewis Eyerly of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Vesta E. Cullen.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Salem Reformed Church U.C.C., 13182 Salem Church Road, Hagerstown. The Rev. Sharon L. Forbes will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Reformed Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Salem Reformed Church U.C.C., P.O. Box 296, Maugansville, MD 21767.

Elizabeth F. Aikens

BOONSBORO - Elizabeth Florence Aikens, 71, of 21 Ford Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at her home.

Born Sept. 17, 1927, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of Anna Griffith Haupt of Boonsboro and the late Wheeler I. Haupt.

She retired in 1988 from Washington County Free Library after 19 years and was formerly employed at Pleasant Valley Elementary School and Boonsboro High School.

She was a member of Hagerstown Bible Church.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles E. Aikens Jr.; a daughter, Linda Hansen of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Charles Aikens of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Dale Carver will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marjorie E. Watkins

BOONSBORO - Marjorie Elizabeth Jolley Watkins, 76, of Boonsboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born May 17, 1922, in Rockville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Edward Mason and Edith King Jolley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Winfield Watkins Sr.

She was a homemaker and worked as a gift wrapper at The Surrey in Potomac, Md. She also was a Princess House consultant for several years.

She was active as a community chest volunteer in her neighborhood of 7 Locks and Montrose Road during the 1950s and 1960s.

She attended Rockville United Methodist Church. Later she attended St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Williamsport and Fayetteville (Pa.) Church of God.

She is survived by four daughters, Joanne Weicht of Williamsport, Betty Snowberger of Waynesboro, Pa., Judy Williams of Rockville and Wendy Young of Boonsboro; a son, Otis Watkins Jr. of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Barbara Watkins; three sisters, Gladys Lozupone and Mary Ellen Smith, both of Florida, and Peaches Zaphiriou of Rockville; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannie Watkins Bolton; a sister, Edith Russ; and a brother, Edward Jolley.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Md. Pastor William Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Viers Mill Road, Rockville.

Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Kidney Foundation.

Carl R. Emrick

Carl Russell Emrick, 57, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at his home.

Born Aug. 10, 1941, in East Port, Md., he was the son of the late John Oliver and Margaret Ellen Halbig Emrick.

He was retired from A.A. Taxi. Previously he was employed with High Gear.

He was a member of the Moose in Annapolis.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Emrick; a daughter, Lisa Collins of Odenton, Md.; two sisters, Louise Hinie and Agnes Hannon, both of Annapolis; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Davison; and three brothers, Richard Emrick, Daniel Emrick and John Emrick.
