Two charged in assault on officers

FREDERICK, Md. - Two Frederick County Sheriff's deputies were allegedly assaulted by a husband and wife after responding to a report of a fight at the Holiday Inn, 5400 Holiday Drive, Frederick, on Thursday, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.

Michael M. Thompson, 32, of Deer Valley Road, Frederick, was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree assault and resisting arrest.

Ruth L. Thompson, 30, Deer Valley Road, Frederick, was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree assault and resisting arrest.

The couple was released on their own recognizance at 6:15 a.m.

Deputies said, when they arrived at the hotel at 10:30 p.m. they found a man and woman being disorderly.

The officers asked the man to leave and he refused.

Authorities said he assaulted Deputy Geoffrey Bartlett, who then arrested him, deputies said.

During that time, the woman became disorderly and attempted to interfere with the arrest, deputies said.


The woman then assaulted Deputy Gordon Geesey. She was also arrested.

The deputies were not injured in the attacks, according to officials.


Two charged with selling cocaine

FREDERICK, Md. - Two people were charged with allegedly selling crack cocaine to undercover police officers at the 100 block of S. Market Street on Thursday, according to the Frederick Police Department.

Bruce A. Thompson, 36, of Center St., Frederick, and Dietra A. Walker, 22, South Market Street, Frederick, were each charged with one count of distribution of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to possess cocaine.

Thompson is being held on $60,000 bond and Walker on $110,000.


Teen charged with assault on dad

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick man was treated and released from the Frederick Memorial Hospital after allegedly being stabbed by his daughter on Friday, according to the Frederick Police Department.

Police said Michael King, 44, of Willowdale Drive, Frederick, entered his daughter's bedroom and she threw a 12-inch butcher's knife at him. The weapon hit him in the leg.

Melanie Fink, 19, of Willowdale Drive was charged with two counts of assault, assault with a deadly weapon and reckless endangerment.

Bond information was unavailable.


Woman injured in car crash

FREDERICK, Md. - A Knoxville woman is in stable condition at the Washington County Hospital after losing control of her car on Gas House Pike and hitting several trees Friday at 11:15 a.m.

Deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office said Dana S. Wilt, 18, was driving a 1988 Ford Mustang on Gas House Pike when she failed to negotiate a sharp turn. Her car slide off the road and hit several trees.

Police said Wilt was not wearing a seatbelt.

The impact of the crash caused her head to go through the windshield resulting in severe lacerations.

Deputies said Wilt was found walking down Gambrill Park Road by two motorists, who took her to the ranger station.


Sheriff's Office investigating theft of truck

CASCADE, Md. - The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of a Ford 150 pickup truck, which was parked in the owner's driveway on Friday at 12:50 a.m.

Deputies said the red truck is owned by Anthony R. Floyd, 14646 Pennersville Road, Cascade.

The truck is an extended cab model with running boards.

The Maryland license plate is 25G99l.

Deputies said a man wearing a black jacket was seen in the area prior to the theft.

Car found in Potomac River

WILLIAMSPORT, Md. - The Washington County Sheriff's Department discovered an abandoned car partially submerged in the Potomac River near the boat ramp at River Bottom Park on Friday at 6:49 a.m.

The Lincoln, Continental was removed from the river and found to be unoccupied.

Deputies said the car was reported stolen by West Virginia State Police.


Three injured in Pa. car crash

BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Three people were injured when the car they were traveling in slid off Barnett's Run Road near State Route 522 on Thursday in Fulton County.

Pennsylvania State Police said Doris Hess, 31, of Warfordsburg, Pa., was driving north on Barnett's Run Road when she slid off the snow-covered road at 2:05 p.m.

Police said she struck a tree and traveled down a steep embankment.

Hess and her passengers, Joseph McCusker, 13, of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Chester McCusker, 15, of Warfordsburg, Pa., received minor injuries.


Man hits utility pole

AYR TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A McConnellsburg, Pa., man received minor injuries after he hit a utility pole when he swerved to avoid another car on Cito Road near Lincoln Way East, on Dec. 23 at 1:45 p.m.

Pennsylvania State Police said Jeffrey A. Pittman, 35, of 112 S. 2nd St., was not wearing a seatbelt.


Mailbox damaged in Pa.

BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A plastic mailbox along Route 3003 was damaged Thursday when someone threw a beer bottle at it at 1 a.m.

Pennsylvania State Police said the mailbox is owned by Kimberly Blackburn, 34, of Warfordsburg.


Inmate charged with terroristic threats

MCCONNELLSBURG BOROUGH, Pa. - An inmate at the State Correctional Institute at Frackville, Pa., faces numerous charges after allegedly sending a threatening letter to a woman on Nov. 13, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said the man wrote that he would harm Sara C. Miller of McConnellsburg after he was paroled.

Police charged inmate Terrance L. Mays with retaliation against a victim or witness, terroristic threats and misdemeanor disorderly conduct on Dec. 18.
