Anniversaries

December 31, 1998

Harry E. and Esther M. Shupp celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at Antrim House Restaurant in Fountain Head Plaza, Hagerstown. The event was hosted by their children.

The Shupps were married Oct. 20, 1948, at Welty Church in Smithsburg by the Rev. J.I. Thomas.

Mrs. Shupp worked at Hagerstown Hosiery Co. and is a homemaker.

Mr. Shupp retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service, and from Charlton Brothers Transportation Co. after 20 years of service.

They have five children, Linda Kay Yeakle, Bonnie Bragunier, Patti Gladhill, Joyce Higgins and Scott Shupp; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.




Mr. and Mrs. Guy Coakley of Williamsport celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998.

They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown and still live in the same home where they began their married life in 1934.

They have one daughter, Carolyn Spinney of Lake Park, Ga.; four grandchildren, Rob Spinney of Nashville, Tenn., Erik Spinney of Valdosta, Ga., and Curt Spinney and Karl Spinney, both of Atlanta; and five great-grandchildren.




Ed and Chris Mazzer of Sharpsburg celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998.

The Mazzers were married in 1958, in West Bangor, Pa.

Their two children, Mark Mazzer and Maura Mazzer, gave them an anniversary gift of a Mediterranean cruise, to be taken early this year.
