Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"Hi. We found a ring of keys Sunday, Dec. 20 at the intersection of Halfway Boulevard and Downsville Pike. It has a large number 92 on the ring. If you can describe the make of the car key on the ring of the other keys, call Mail Call and we will call you. Thank you."

"This is to the people out there who own pets, whether it be dogs, birds, cats ferrets, it really doesn't matter. Whenever you take your animal to the vets, insist that you go back with the pet. Recently I found out not only the veterinarian may work on the animal, but they have students who are learning the veterinarian service. And a lot of times these students work on the animals. Now, I don't know about anybody else, but when I go and pay a high price for a veterinarian, I expect the veterinarian to do the work, not someone that is just learning. Now to me if it is somebody like that that's just learning, to me, I should get a pretty big discount, not pay for a professional. After all, this person is not a professional. He is just learning. And another thing, If you don't like the way the vet or technician is handling the animal you have the right to say, stop where you are, take your pet and leave. You do not have to stay. Do not be afraid to tell them, I do not like the way you are handling the pet, you know we're over, we're out of here, you're not looking at the pet no more. We're leaving. So, don't forget your pets at Christmas time. Keep them out of the cold and make sure they have food and water. Bye."

"Hi Mail Call. I Just noticed in the paper that there is going to be a big hike, at least a proposal for a big hike and one of your favorite Democrats, Glendening, spending some of the money that we earn. It's a pity that you Democrats can't wake up and realize that everything should be Republican, so that we can get some of that money back into our own pockets and use it that way. I guess that is enough for now. Because when I think of Democrats I just see red. Because you're all so illiterate and stupid. Goodbye."

"Hi, I'm calling about the person who spoke in the Wednesday, Dec. 23rd, paper. If you are going to lambaste Spanish people about the way that they speak, you should learn to speak English correctly and use proper grammar. Thank you very much. Goodbye."

"I would like to thank the Washington County Art Museum for hosting the wonderful Childrens Holiday Party on Dec. 12th. It was a wonderful event for both the children and the adults and I would also like to thank the photographer who took the picture of the children sitting on Santa Claus's lap. The children each got a copy of the picture and it was a wonderful remembrance of the holiday fun at the museum. Thank you so much for hosting such a wonderful party. And to the photographer who took all the wonderful pictures, thank you."

"To all of our Herald-Mail paper customers, we would like to say thank you very much for all of your generosity this Christmas and all year long. We really appreciated your thoughts on this. Thanks again and have a wonderful Christmas. The Hull family. Thank you."

"Happy anniversary to my mom and dad, Rose and Harry, on Dec. 20th. I love you, Becky, Brian and Taylor. Thank you."

"Hi, Mail Call. I'm calling about the things that are going on at Hunter Hill Apartments. People stealing off of people's doors the Christmas decorations. If they have nothing better to do they should go out and find some community hours/services that they could do. Not only that, there is a whole bunch of things. If you don't like an animal around, then don't move where there are animals. Find yourself a place where they don't have animals. There are lots of them in town, but don't pick on ones that have animals and truly love them. Thank you."

"Hi. I just saw the things in the paper about the Christmas lights and I wanted to tell the Herald Mail readers that if they want to see some beautiful home decorating they should ride by the Cloppers' house at 10916 Bower Ave. It is a white two-story traditional home about one block off of Virginia Avenue with a handmade Saint Nicholas on the porch and other decorations that are just beautiful."

"Regarding Thursday's article on page B2 about the travel expenses of school board members, fine, please do spend productive time attending conferences. Then put your lessons to positive use in our school system. Do you spend equal time visiting classes and listening to teachers' problems and concerns? Or do you just demoralize the teachers with paperwork and criticism, so good teachers can't do their best for our students? I hope the new year is a happier school year. Thank you."
