Teresa D. Whitmore

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Teresa Diane Whitmore, 48, of West Brookridge Drive, and formerly of Frederick, Md., died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at her home.

Born Feb. 23, 1950, in Frederick, she was the daughter of Mary Virginia Smith Whitmore of Middletown and the late O. Kenneth Whitmore.

She was retired from Frederick County Mental Health Services, Frederick, due to her illness.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Frederick.

She was past president of Maryland Classified Employees Association of Maryland and a past member of the Democratic Central Committee.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one brother, Ronald C. Whitmore of New Midway, Md.; one niece, two nephews; and four great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Stauffer Funeral Home chapel, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. The Rev. W. Phillip Fogarty will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro, Md.

The family will receive friends tonight 7 to 9 at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21702.

Lloyd R. Smith

MT. AIRY, Md. - Lloyd Ronald "Smitty" Smith, 59, of Runkles Road, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at his home.

Born Feb. 21, 1939, in Wolfsville, Md., he was the son of Alice Tobatha Kirby Smith of Haines City, Fla., and the late Mehrle Downin Smith Sr.

He was employed as a drywall mechanic in the local area.

He was a member of Fraternal Order of Moose Lodge 2473, Mount Airy, and Prudence Masonic Lodge 190, Mount Airy.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Margaret Mae Bart Smith, two daughters, Margie M. Sweeney and Linda G. Smith, both of Baltimore; one son, Alvey J. Smith of Monrovia, Md.; two sisters, Betty J. Smith of Hagerstown and Harriet Stockslager of Haines City; one brother, Alvey J. Smith of Olney, Md.; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Mehrle D. Smith, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy. The Rev. Robert E. Steinke will officiate. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.

June H. Butler

FREDERICK, Md. - June Hope Butler, 82, of Crestwood Village, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at her home.

Born May 6, 1916, in Wilmington, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Rozell and Valvie Hope Wagner Brown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gilman Butler.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynn H. Suter of Frederick; one son, Bryan R. Butler Sr., of Mount Airy; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Etchison Memorial Chapel of Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myer, Va., at a later date.

There will be no visitation.

Pauline S. Shank

WILLIAMSPORT - Pauline S. Shank 72, of 16137 Cloverton Lane, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Twin Oaks Retirement Village, Williamsport.

Born Feb. 22, 1926, in Franklin, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Annie Kuykendall Shaw.

She was a 1944 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

She was employed with C&P Telephone Co. for over 40 years, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Telephone Pioneers and a former member of Zonta Club of Hagerstown.

She is survived by her husband, Lee D. Shank; one sister, Mary Blair of Hagerstown; one brother, Norman Shaw of Columbus, Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, John E. Shaw.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Albert L. Leaf Memorial Chapel of Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Richard A. Kroll will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

BreAna M. Clay

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - BreAna Mae Clay, infant daughter of Robert A. and Susan McAfee Clay of 7683 Cumberland Circle, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born Dec. 10, 1998, in Waynesboro, Pa.
