Two wrecks in Frederick require medevac use

December 26, 1998

FREDERICK, Md. - The victims of two separate auto accidents Saturday evening in Frederick were flown to Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown by Maryland State Police medevac helicopters.

A 17-year-old Myersville, Md., girl was injured when her car struck a large tree off U.S. 40 near Gambrill Park Road at 7:19 p.m.

Maryland State Police said Sherrie Anne Jeans was westbound in a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier when, for unknown reasons, her car crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road.

When her car hit the tree, Jeans was ejected from the vehicle, according to Trooper First Class Robert Calo. There was no preliminary indication that speed or alcohol were involved.

Jeans was treated at the scene by Braddock Heights Fire Company personnel before being flown out by MSP medevac helicopter.

Her condition at WCH wasn't available Saturday night.

At 7:10 p.m., Frederick City Police responded to another accident at South McCain Drive at West Patrick Street on Frederick's Golden Mile.

No further details were available on that accident but one person was flown out by MSP helicopter to Hagerstown, according to rescue officials.
