BREEZEWOOD, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police in Fulton County charged a Breezewood man with possession with intent to deliver marijuana after he was taken into custody Tuesday on a fugitive warrant from West Virginia.

The report said troopers served the fugitive warrant on Kevin Lance Newman, 42, at his mobile home along U.S. 30 in Brush Creek Township at about 8:45 a.m. The report said he was wanted by state police in Moundsville, W.Va., on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, malicious assault, criminal conspiracy and assault and battery.

He was arraigned before District Justice Carol Johnson on the fugitive warrant and jailed in Franklin County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bond. Fulton County has no prison.

Police said that when the warrant was served, marijuana and weighing scales were in plain view. A search warrant was obtained and police said they later seized 4.9 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $16,000.


Also seized were several firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash. On Wednesday state police filed a charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana against Newman.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police are looking for three suspects in the theft of cash from a Hamilton Township grocery store Tuesday evening.

The report said an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from Sunnyway Foods, 49 Warm Spring Road, at about 6:30 p.m.

Police said three black males entered the store and went to different locations. While one distracted an office employee, another went into the office and stole the cash.

The suspects were all in their late teens to mid-20s, police said. One was 6-4 and 180 pounds and wore a white shirt, black jacket and a gold earring.

Another was 5-3 and 130 pounds with a light complexion and wore a red and blue flannel shirt over a white shirt. There was no detailed description of the third suspect, police said.

Police believe they fled in a black or blue Chevy Beretta with gray rocker panels.

SCOTLAND, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police charged a Chambersburg man with felony retail theft after an incident Monday afternoon at Chambersburg Mall.

Ray Orville Wright, 46, was arraigned before District Justice Shirley Shatzer after the 4:50 p.m. incident, according to police.

The report said store personnel saw a man take two jackets worth about $160 from a display rack and put them in a plastic bag. He then went to the customer service desk and got a store credit for the jackets, police said

The man then brought $92 worth of merchandise to the customer service desk and cashed in the store credit slip, getting $65 in change.

Store personnel stopped Wright as he tried to leave the store.
