McCartney Impresses

POMFRET, Conn. - Erin McCartney was the leading scorer in the tournament and was voted to the all-tournament team as Mercersburg Academy finished fourth in The Jam on the Hill Invitational this weekend.

McCartney scored 28 points in Mercersburg's 53-45 win over Providence (R.I.) Country Day School.

She scored 21 in a 50-31 loss to Pomfret School, and 37 in a 65-49 loss to St. Mark's of Massachusetts.

Bishop Loughlin of New York City won the tourney.

Mercersburg's record is 3-5.

Boonsboro takes third

FROSTBURG, Md. - Boonsboro placed third in the Thomas Davis Memorial Tournament Saturday in Frostburg, Md. Jameswood (Va.) won the nine-team tournament and Bell High School finished second.

Clayton Harr won the 119-pound weight class for Boonsboro. Josh Hollingshead (125) also placed first. Josh Kretzer (135) and Jerid Nalley (140) finished in second, Robert Courtney (189) placed third and Jake Michael (130) and Alex Babyak (160) came in fourth for the Warriors.

Harr was voted Outstanding Wrestler for the tournament after he defeated Ross Hewitt from Jameswood, 4-3.

Chambersburg falls just short

Chambersburg finished in second place at the Red Lane Invitational Tournament on Saturday with a score of 133.35. Dallastown (Pa.) won the tournament edging Chambersburg with a score of 133.9.

Megan Baker placed first in the novice floor excercize for Chambersburg. Rachel Testen finished first in the intermediate floor excersize and all-around competition, and Kirsten Browder won the advanced all-around competition.

Chambersburg's next meet is on Jan. 9 when it will take on Cumberland Valley.
