Roundup-No. 4 Mercersburg wins in overtime

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - No. 4 Mercersburg Academy erased a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter and edged Cedar Grove 65-63 in overtime Thursday in the Mercersburg Rotary Showcase Tournament.

Stephane Pelle had 26 points to lead the Blue Storm (6-1). Ugonna Oneyekwe scored 14 points and Wes Miller added 11.

Gary Dawan led Cedar Grove with 19 points.

Goretti 76, Gwynn Lake 47

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - No. 1 St. Maria Goretti increased its intensity in the second half, playing solid defense and using a balanced offensive attack to defeat Gwynn Lake.

Jamie Rice had 14 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals for Goretti (7-1). Brad Runkles had 15 points and seven rebounds, while Anthony Sowers had 11 points.

Joseph Ison led Gwynn Lake with 15 points.

Al Dupont 77, St. James 71

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Corey Ponzo scored a game-high 27 points to lead Al Dupont over St. James in another Mercersburg Rotary Club Showcase Classic opening round tournament match. John Thornton added 17 points for Al Dupont.

Jeff Perry had 21 points, while Chris Acker and John Hartman each had 17 for St. James (3-2).

Allegany 52, Musselman 42

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Rob Stansbury scored 16 points and Jeremy Smith added 11 as Allegany (3-0) defeated the Applemen.

Todd Mosby led all scorers with 17 points, while Aaron Mueller added 11 points for Musselman (0-2).

Brunswick 69, N. Hagerstown 50

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Katie Yourishin scored nine of her 21 points in the first quarter as No. 5 Brunswick used man pressure to grab an early lead and a Monocacy Valley Athletic League win over North Hagerstown.

The Railroaders (4-1, 3-1) took a 17-8 lead after the first quarter and did just enough to keep ahead of the Hubs.

Jamie Cable had 17 points and seven rebounds for Brunswick.

Becky Holmes led North (0-3, 0-3) with 18 points while Autumn Parson added 13.

Berkeley Springs 52, Faith 26

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Nicole Maslauskas led all scorers with 21 points, including three 3-point baskets, as Berkeley Springs doubled up Faith Christian.

Rusti Hovermale had 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Crystal Burch scored seven points for Berkeley Springs (2-1).

Holly Snyder led Faith with eight points.
