Police log 12/17

December 17, 1998

Hagerstown City Police reported the following on Wednesday morning:

* A 1997 blue Ford that was reported stolen last Friday from Berkeley Springs, W.Va., was recovered in the first block of West Bethel Street at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

* A woman at a pay phone near the Holiday Motel in the first block of North Prospect Street said a man stole a $50 bill she had placed on the pay phone's shelf on Tuesday night and ran into the motel. He was not found.

* The rear window of a 1986 Chevy Camaro parked at 935 Main Ave. was broken with a baseball bat overnight.


* The tail light of a 1996 Chevy at 114 W. Franklin St. was reported broken on Tuesday.

* The driver's side window of a 1995 Chevy Blazer at 1143 Green Lane was smashed around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The door also was damaged. The Blazer belongs to Valentine Electric.

* A car stereo was reported stolen from 412 W. Franklin St. on Tuesday.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department reported the following incidents:

* A 27-inch RCA television set and a purse were reported stolen from 16701 Caldwell Court in Williamsport at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Dolores P. Izer, 42, told police she heard someone in her home and when she got up to check she found the items missing.

* Two saws worth more than $300 were reported stolen overnight Saturday from a garage at 16706 Tammany Lane.

The garage was broken into between 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.
