Marcelene Nellie Miller

FREDERICK, Md. - Marcelene "Sis" Nellie Miller, 65, of 5030 Witmer Lane, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at the home of her daughter in Walkersville, Md.

Born in Middletown, Md., Sept. 3, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Leslie H. Long Sr. and Nellie Routzahn Long.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo McClellan Miller, who died in 1997.

She was employed as a school bus driver for 11 years and retired as an aide.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Feageville.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Amvets Post #2 in Frederick and a member of the Dopey Sisters.


She is survived by two daughters, Leona M. Dodson of Walkersville and Linda A. Loun of Frederick; one son, Leo M. Miller Jr. of Middletown; three sisters, Iona Grossnickle of Myersville, Md., Viola Bussard of Frederick and June Marsh of Middletown; three brothers, Leslie H. Long Jr. of Middletown, Paul E. Long of Keedysville, Md., and James Long of Knoxville, Md.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa K. Miller.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. Ben Thompson will officiate. Interment will be made in the Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call anytime on Tuesday.

Helen M. Ickes

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Helen M. "Foxy" Wagaman Ickes, 55, of 12370 South Mountain Road, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born Jan. 19, 1943, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Ross H. Wagaman Sr. and Elsie Kauffman Wagaman.

Her husband, Harry C. Ickes Sr., died in 1996. They were married Dec. 11, 1970.

She was employed by South Mountain Restoration Center in the housekeeping department for 30 years, retiring in June 1992.

She is survived by two daughters, Pamela S. Naugle of Orrtanna, Pa., and Fay S. Ickes of South Mountain; one son, Harry S. Ickes of South Mountain; four sisters, Faye L. Misner and Mary Jane Miller, both of South Mountain, Delores Baker of Mont Alto, Pa., and Kathryn Wagaman of Chambersburg; four brothers, James Wagaman and Robert Wagaman of South Mountain, Leonard Wagaman of Waynesboro, Pa., and Richard Wagaman of Philadelphia; two granddaughters; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Miller and Romaine Rothensberger; and two brothers, Eugene Wagaman and Ross H. Wagaman Jr.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor David L. Keener will officiate. Burial will be in Strang's Cemetery in South Mountain.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Orpha O. Fischer

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Orpha O. Fischer, 77, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born March 22, 1921, in Mann Township, Bedford County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Kelley and Lucy Gordon Northcraft.

Her husband, James F. Fischer, died in 1986.

She was a 1940 graduate of Everett High School.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.

She was employed as a seamstress in the garment industry for 35 years, retiring in 1985.

She is survived by one son, Welton J. Fischer of Chambersburg; two sisters, Vernelda Timmons of Chambersburg and Alta O'Neal of Westminster, Md.; two brothers, Ernest A. Northcraft of Artemas, Pa., and Darrell Northcraft of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Richard B. Cartwright will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.; and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Darrell W. Ford

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Darrell W. Ford, 64, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998 at his home.

Born Dec. 17, 1933 in Harmony, Md., he was the son of the late Charles M. and Virginia I. Firestone Ford.

He was retired from the Maryland State Department of Highways.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by two daughters, Lavonne Ford and Treva Ford, both of Myersville, Md., and one brother, James Ford of Frederick, Md.

Services and burial will be private.

Rubena B. Baughman Saunders

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Rubena B. "Ruby" Baughman Saunders, 80, of 278 East Liberty St., Chambersburg, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
