The Zimmermans

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Carroll "Joe" Zimmerman of Hagerstown were honored Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, with a surprise dinner at Antrim House Family Restaurant in Fountainhead Plaza in Hagerstown celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

The event was hosted by their daughter, Barbara Jo Zimmerman; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Leah Zimmerman; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Dottie Zimmerman; and niece, Joleen Hart. More than 200 guests attended the celebration.

Mr. and Mrs. Zimmerman were united in marriage Oct. 15, 1948, at John Wesley United Methodist Church, formerly St. Paul's Methodist, in Hagerstown.


Mrs. Zimmerman is the former Helen Louise Bostetter. She retired after 17 years of service in 1985 from Maryland National Bank, where she was a teller/proof-operator.

Mr. Zimmerman retired after 41 years of service in 1991 from Western Maryland Railroad where he was a brakeman/conductor.

They had three children and two granddaughters.

The Oberholzers

Donald J. and Bernice A. Oberholzer Sr. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, May 30, 1998, at a dinner given in their honor at Antrim House Restaurant.

The event was hosted by the couple's seven children, Donald J. Oberholzer Jr., Ray L. Oberholzer, Lois J. Baer, David L. Oberholzer, Frances A. Strite, Helen M. Mata and Allen E. Oberholzer.

The Oberholzers were married June 4, 1948, in the Greencastle Evangelical Lutheran Church parsonage.

Mr. Oberholzer is retired from Letterkenny Army Depot and the family farm.

Mrs. Oberholzer is a homemaker.

Most of their married life was spent on the family farm on Ridge Road in Waynesboro, Pa. They now live in Greencastle, Pa.

They have 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
