Woman accosted while leaving home

A 28-year-old woman was accosted Tuesday morning as she left her Chewsville area home for work, Maryland State Police said.

Her assailant forced her into her Honda Passport sport utility vehicle and made her drive to a nearby park, where he raped her, police said. He then fled on foot.

The woman returned to her home and called state police. Shortly after they arrived, the woman was questioned and taken to Washington County Hospital.

The incident occurred between 6:35 and 7:20 a.m., police said.

The only description of the suspect is that he is a white man.

Anyone with information, or who might have seen a late-model red Passport in the Chewsville area during the time in question, may call 301-739-2101.
