Melissa I. Barner

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Melissa Irene Bream Barner, 34, of 1077-11 Lancaster Blvd., died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.

Born Aug. 22, 1964, in Gettysburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Raymond L. Bream Sr. and Hazel A. Harris Bream, of Waynesboro.

She was a 1982 graduate of Waynesboro Senior High School.

She was employed by New Cumberland Army Depot in the supply department as a supply clerk.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Barner, whom she married Aug. 30, 1985; a sister, Patricia R. Rush of Greencastle, Pa.; a brother, Raymond L. Bream Jr. of Shippensburg, Pa.; maternal grandfather, Otto F. Harris of Antioch, W.Va.; paternal grandmother, Margaret R. Bream of Waynesboro; 17 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Alyssa Irene Barner.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor James T. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elizabeth H. Short

Elizabeth H. Short, 74, of 1633 Edgewood Place, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 21, 1923, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late James Wilson and Ida Kate Boren Miller.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by her husband, George W. Short; two daughters, Mary L. Elia of Hagerstown and Debra K. Leatherman of Boonsboro; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and seven brothers.

Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Edward J. Tovornik Sr.

Edward John Tovornik Sr., 67, who died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, also was survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen Fidler of Kansas City, Mo.

Frank Walter

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Frank Walter, 87, of Piney Mountain Retirement Community, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Sept. 3, 1911, in Monessen, Pa., he was the son of the late Fred and Lidima Kearn Walter.

He had attended Lane Technical School.

He was a cabinet/furniture maker.

He was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, Chambersburg.

He is survived by three sisters, Gertrude O'Donnell of California, and Phyllis Martin and Florence Tarkington, both of Arkansas; and one brother, Carl Walter.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Piney Mountain, 6375 Chambersburg Road, Fayetteville. The Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

A. Vaughn Williams Jr.

A. Vaughn Williams Jr., 73, of 1741 Edgewood Circle, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at the home of his daughter, Mary A. Brittingham, near Charles Town, W.Va.

Born Feb. 14, 1925, he was the son of the late A. Vaughn Sr. and Naomi A. Acworth Williams.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances L. Williams, who died Oct. 12, 1998.

He was a retired employee of Eastalco in Frederick, Md.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in France during World War II.

He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

He is survived by two daughters, Anne R. Alston of Omaha, Neb., and Mary A. Brittingham of Charles Town; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Gerald Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. in Quantico Cemetery, Quantico, Md.

Visitation will be today, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday 30 minutes prior to service at the funeral home.

Darlene A. Kline

STATE LINE, Pa. - Darlene Ann Kline, 49, of Talhelm Street, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Born Nov. 7, 1949, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Caroline Wald Dietrich.

She was employed with Toys R Us and Tender Loving Care.

She is survived by four sons, Brian Kenneth Kline of Hagerstown, Thomas Michael Kline and Scott William Kline, both of Smithsburg, and Jason Matthew Kline of State Line, Pa.; and one grandson.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
