December 07, 1998

A Hagerstown man and his son, who was mauled by a German shepherd, will get $7,500 from the dog's owners, according to a settlement filed Friday in Washington County Circuit Court.

Denis A. Norris III, a minor whose age was not listed, of 9729 Clover Heights Road, was attacked by the unrestrained dog May 27, court records said.

The boy suffered serious and permanent injuries to his chest, records said.

Norris and his father, Denis A. Norris Jr., filed suit against the dog's owners, Edwin R. and Jeanette H. Ebersole of 9712 June Ave., court records said.

The Ebersoles, who denied liability, agreed to settle for the full amount requested in the suit, records show.

The boy will get $5,000 and the father will get $2,500.
