The Clipps

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Clipp of Keedysville celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 28, 1998, at Antrim House Family Restaurant in Fountainhead Plaza in Hagerstown.

The party was hosted by their sons, Lyndell, Brent, Galen and Dolan; their daughters-in-law, Fonda, Peggy, Sandy and Linda; and their grandchildren. More than 120 friends and relatives attended.

The couple was married June 27, 1958, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Keedysville.

Mrs. Clipp is the former Vivian Moats, daughter of the late Albert and Angie Moats.

Joseph Clipp is the son of Merle Clipp of Keedysville and the late Ivy Clipp.

The Bakers

Harold "Gus" and Phyllis Baker celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at a dinner party Saturday, May 16, 1998.

The event was held at United Auto Workers Local 171 Hall in Hagerstown and was hosted by their children and spouses, Kristy and Doug Weaver, Coleen and John Sharon, Annette and John Canfield and Brian Baker.

The Bakers were married May 20, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown by the late Rev. Wilson P. Ard.

Mrs. Baker is the former Phyllis Shank, daughter of the late Paul R. and Frances Shank. She is retired from Clear View Nursing Home.

Mr. Baker is the son of the late C. Herman and Emma Baker.

The Bakers are the former proprietors of The Pleasant View Inn and South End Tavern.

They have seven grandsons and one granddaughter.

The Hambys

Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Hamby of Hagerstown, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, with a surprise dinner at Mountain Gate Family Restaurant in Waynesboro, Pa.

The dinner was hosted by the couple's children, Kim and Chuck Brennan, Greg Hamby, Brian Hamby and Denny Hamby, and their grandson. The party was attended by 70 friends and relatives.

The Hambys were married Sept. 6, 1958, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clear Spring.

Mrs. Hamby is the former Charlotte "Rita" Robinson, daughter of the late Charlotte and Roy Robinson. She was employed at Fairchild Industries.

Mr. Hamby is the son of Lela Hamby of Williamsport and the late David Hamby. He has been employed at General Motors Parts Division plant in Martinsburg, W.Va., for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

The Rodeffers

Paul and Lois Rodeffer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, at a reception at Morris Frock American Legion, hosted by their daughter, Christina Thatcher, and grandson, Jason Thatcher.

They were married at St. Paul's Evangelical United Brethren Church Nov. 5, 1948.

Mrs. Rodeffer is the former Lois Stouffer. She is retired from Hesco Inc.

Mr. Rodeffer is retired from Pangborn Corp.

The Stums

Bill and Marie Stum of DeLand, Fla., formerly of Hagerstown, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at a celebration hosted by their children and grandchildren.

The Stums were married Nov. 12, 1938, at St. James Catholic Church in Boonsboro.

Mrs. Stum is the former Anna Marie McGinley. She is a housewife.

Mr. Stum retired from Martin-Marietta in 1974 and Educational Computer Corp. in Orlando, Fla., in 1984.

They have four children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
